Your First Adjustment

Dr. Carey will apply his hands to the area of your spine to be treated in such a way as to mobilize your joints. Commonly, a short impulse of pressure is applied to the joint and this may produce an audible pop or click over the joint. If you are apprehensive about this treatment procedure discuss this with Dr. Carey at the time of your initial treatment. Most patients are apprehensive about their first spinal adjustment only because they don't know what to expect or are fearful of a worsening of their pain with the procedure. Rest assured Dr. Carey has 26 years of experience and will walk you through the process. We cater to cowards.

The goal of the spinal adjustment includes the following:

  • Increase the joint mobility/range of motion
  • Relieve pain
  • Reduce painful muscle spasms
  • Restore optimal joint function

World renowned researcher of spinal pain (Karl Lewitt MD, PHD and head of Neurology at Charles University) has determined that joint dysfunctionis the key reflex associated with spinal pain. Thus, assessing and treating joint dysfunction is the first line of treatment.
